Who We Are
Walk Window is operated by Titan Tribute LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Walk Window mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
Information You Provide
- Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and display name through Firebase Authentication. You may also sign in with Google or Apple.
- Location data: We collect your location coordinates (approximate by default, precise if you grant the permission) to fetch weather forecasts for your area and to provide walking-window recommendations.
- Preferences: Your walker type selection (General Walker, Dog Walker, or Fitness Walker — the option you choose during setup), temperature comfort range, weather sensitivities, and other settings you configure in the app.
- Walk feedback: When you log how a walk felt, we collect your feedback, optional notes, and the weather conditions at the time so the app can refine future recommendations.
- Planned walks: Information about walks you schedule through the app, including the time, location, and any reminder you set.
- Dog walker profile (optional): If you select Dog Walker mode, we store your dog's breed size category (small, medium, large, or brachycephalic/flat-faced) so pavement-temperature safety thresholds are tuned to your dog.
Health Data
With your explicit, separately-granted permission, Walk Window accesses a limited set of health and fitness data types from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS or Health Connect on Android. We request access only to the data types listed below, and only for the purposes listed below:
- Workouts (HealthKit type HKWorkoutType on iOS; Exercise Sessions on Health Connect): Walk Window reads the start time, end time, activity type, and any distance or calorie totals associated with each workout entry. We use this to recognize when you walk, learn your walking patterns, and improve the timing of future walk-window recommendations. Distance and calorie values are read as part of the workout record itself; we do not request separate distance or calorie permissions.
- Activity recognition (Android only): Used by Health Connect to detect walking sessions automatically when the Workouts permission alone is insufficient. iOS does not use this permission.
Read vs. write. Health data access is read-only by default. Walk Window does not write to, modify, or delete your health records, with one exception: if you tap the in-app option to save a completed walk back to Apple Health or Health Connect, the app writes a single workout record for that walk. You control this each time.
On-device processing. Health data is processed on your device. We do not transmit health data to our servers, to Firebase, to any analytics provider, or to any third party.
Prohibited uses. We do not use health data for advertising or marketing. We do not use health data for any purpose other than providing walking recommendations and related safety alerts within the Walk Window app. We do not share health data with data brokers, ad networks, or any third party. We do not sell health data under any definition.
Revoking access. You may revoke health data access at any time:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Walk Window
- Android: Settings → Apps → Walk Window → Permissions, or open the Health Connect app and revoke per-type
Revoking the permission stops Walk Window from reading any further health data. Any historical data already used to refine on-device recommendations stays on your device and is cleared when you uninstall the app or use the in-app "Clear walk history" option in Settings.
Calendar Data
With your explicit permission, Walk Window reads your calendar events to find walking windows that fit around your schedule. We only read event start times, end times, and busy/free status — not titles, attendees, locations, or any other event content. Calendar data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party. Walk Window does not create, modify, or delete calendar events. You may revoke calendar access at any time in your device settings.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device tokens: For push notifications, via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Advertising ID: The Google Advertising ID (Android) or Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA on iOS) is used solely for install attribution and aggregate analytics (for example, measuring how many people install the app from a given referral source). We do not use this identifier to track you across other companies' apps or websites, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not pass it to any advertising network. On iOS, the app does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not engage in the tracking behaviors that require one.
- App usage data: Aggregated, non-identifying usage data such as which screens are viewed and which features are used, via Firebase Analytics, to help us understand patterns and improve the app. This data is not linked to your name, email, location, or health data.
- Crash and performance data: When the app crashes or experiences a performance issue, diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, and a stack trace of the crash) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug. This information does not include your name, email, location, health data, or any content you have entered in the app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide personalized walking recommendations based on weather
- Surface the best walking window for your day and week
- Send pavement-temperature safety alerts (Dog Walker mode)
- Send optional notifications (walk reminders, weather shifts, standout days)
- Process your subscription and manage your account
- Improve and optimize the Service
Data Storage
Most of your data is stored locally on your device. Preferences, walk feedback, planned walks, health-derived insights, and calendar reads remain on your device and are not synced to servers we operate. The exceptions are:
- Account data (email, display name): stored securely by Firebase Authentication (Google).
- Subscription data: managed by RevenueCat for payment processing.
- Anonymous analytics: sent to Firebase Analytics.
Third-Party Services
- Open-Meteo: Weather forecast data provider. Receives your location coordinates to return weather data. Privacy policy: open-meteo.com/en/terms
- Firebase (Google): Authentication (email and Google/Apple sign-in), push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging, aggregate analytics via Firebase Analytics, and crash diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics. Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate the Service. Health data is never shared with any third party.
Data Retention
- Local data: Stored on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.
- Walk feedback: Retained locally for as long as the app is installed; you may clear it from Settings at any time.
- Account data: Retained by Firebase until you delete your account.
- Subscription data: Retained by RevenueCat per their data retention policies.
Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. There are two ways to do this:
- In-app: open Walk Window → Settings → "Delete account." Confirmation is processed immediately.
- By email: write to support@walkwindowapp.com from the email address tied to your account. We will verify your identity (typically by confirming you can reply from that address) before processing the deletion, and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Account deletion removes your authentication record and any cloud-synced data tied to your account, and is irreversible. Local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or use the in-app "Clear walk history" option in Settings.
Your Rights
- Access: View data stored locally in the app via Settings.
- Delete: Delete your local data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data; delete your account as described above.
- Opt out: Disable notifications, health integration, or calendar integration at any time in your device settings or the app Settings screen.
European Users (GDPR): If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation: legal basis for processing (consent for health and calendar data; legitimate interests for providing the Service), data portability, the right to object, the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Contact support@walkwindowapp.com to exercise these rights.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:
- The right to know what categories of personal information we have collected, the sources of that information, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it (see the sections above for this disclosure).
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. No opt-out is required for behavior we do not engage in.
- The right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
- The right to non-discrimination — you will not receive different service or pricing for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@walkwindowapp.com from the email address associated with your account. We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days, as required by California law.
Data Security
- Local data uses your device's secure storage mechanisms.
- All network communications use HTTPS encryption.
- We do not store sensitive credentials on our servers.
Children's Privacy
Walk Window is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 in the United States, or under the age of 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. The app is not registered in Google Play's "Designed for Families" program or any children's category on the App Store.
We do not include advertising networks, behavioral advertising, or content directed at children. We do not knowingly use any data for purposes prohibited by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States or comparable laws in other jurisdictions.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to Walk Window, please contact support@walkwindowapp.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
